I originally wrote a review giving this jacket three stars. But, after using the jacket at the beach, I believe my review was unfairly low and I deleted it.I spend hours on the beach reading.And, I don't like to go in if there's a little blowing sand or a light mist.I've used the jacket in these conditions, and it completely protected the kindle.Not a grain of sand got in.
I put my Kindle down on an outside table and didn't realize it had started to lightly rain.I immediately retrieved it. The outside of the jacket was a little wet, of course, but the Kindle was perfectly dry. The jacket isn't waterproof and not meant to be used in the rain, but it provides good protection from the elements.
My only complaint is that the clear vinyl doesn't lie completely flat.There are some "waves" that can be distracting, depending on how the light hits the cover. Also, in direct sunlight there's sometimes a glare. That's the nature of the vinyl, though, and changing the angle I'm holding the Kindle removes the glare.
I don't think the overall protection of the Leisure Jacket is as good as some other covers, and I don't really like reading through the vinyl. However, for reading at the beach or when there's food & drink around, this jacket is an excellent choice.
