Review of M-Edge Latitude Kindle DX Jacket (Fits 9.7" Display, Latest Generation Kindle DX), Navy Blue w/ Grey

I went through many different cases, jackets, and sleeves before finding this one from M-Edge. It seems to me that there are a few options out there, but no perfect option in sight. There is always a flaw with the major DX jackets. I passed over the official Amazon cover after reading the reviews of Kindles cracking at the edge. I considered sleeves because I was used to reading my Kindle bare. However, I was definitely intrigued after looking at this product, so I decided to give it a try.

The jacket itself is built of sturdy material, which you can feel the minute you take it out of the package. It's no wonder the case is waterproof and seems easy to clean, but I have not been brave enough to drop it to test the durability of protection on the Kindle. The zippers are well placed, allowing me to charge the Kindle in the case without being close enough to scratch the Kindle, and the extra space for the charger on the front cover is a great feature.

The inside of the jacket is covered in a soft, fuzzy material to keep your Kindle from scratching while it's in the jacket. It also makes for a very comfortable grip if you decide to flip the front cover behind the Kindle and read it in the jacket. While I used to read my Kindle bare, the comfort level here might change me to an in-jacket reader. Any jacket you buy for your Kindle will ad to the weight, and this seemingly unavoidable double-edge is unfortunately apparent here as well.

The jacket has elastics on four corners inside to hold your Kindle. At first sight, they do not seem to heavily grip the Kindle with much pressure, so I was skeptical that the jacket would hold it in place well. However, after turning the jacket with the strapped-in Kindle upside down and shaking it, the Kindle didn't move at all and was sturdily held in the jacket. A great feature, knowing your Kindle isn't being pressed hard on the edges (another problem that is found in other jackets) but is still remains securely in place.

On a side note, this case is navy blue (as stated in the description of the product) despite the Amazon picture displaying a much brighter shade of blue. Personally, I think the navy blue and silver accent go together very well, but I was disappointed not to receive the vibrant blue I saw in the picture.

Bottom line, you're going to want a cover for your DX that fits your personal preference. If you prefer to read your Kindle in a jacket or case, the comfort level and security of this product will make you happy. If you prefer to read your Kindle bare and just need something to hold it during travel (my initial use for this product) the jacket serves this purpose well and may even turn you into a jacket reader.

THE GOOD:
- Very comfortable to hold.
- Great, sturdy material.
- Securely holds the Kindle without too much pressure on the edges.
- Zippers are well placed and the front is useful for holding your charger.
- Can be used as both a travel case or a permanent case for your Kindle.

THE NOT SO GOOD:
- The jacket does add weight to the Kindle. (Practically unavoidable.)
- The color is not as advertised in the picture.
