So my mom got a Kindle for Christmas from my dad, and being the great son that I am decided this would be the perfect present to piggy back on. So I bought this cover for her. After first feeling the kindle when she got it, i realized how perfect a gift this actually was. The kindle is equivalent to a larger, heavier, more delicate Iphone. It has brushed metal/slippery backing, and is thin so i could see this guy flipping right out of your hands. And after hearing the horror stories of how easily the kindle DX screen is to break (a fall from 1 foot or less can ruin the screen) this seemed to be the perfect gift. Also, after reading the reviews on the Amazon cover (which only comes in black) I didn't want a cover with the hindge system (even though i'm sure it would look a little cleaner) because I didn't want her kindle screen to break. Apparently if you open up that cover from the wrong side the kindle will flop open with the force of it's own weight which will crack the screen. Amazon will replace the product but for 200+ dollars. NOO THANKS) Alright, so if you are trying to decide between all the M-edge Kindle covers, this is what you need to know. Compared to the executive and the fold back M-edge covers (the one that stands up) this one is the lightest (9oz), least bulky, and has no latch. I don't think a latch is really necessary, but if you want one, this is not the cover for you. The BIG advantage of this case is that is easily folds back on itself and feels great to hold. It also doesn't have any waisted room for M-edge lights, papers, pens, etc... Just you and the kindle, and I really believe this is the way it should be. Also the flip back model blocks the place where you would plug it in. This model will easily plug into the wall while in the case. If really necessary you could creat a latch with velcro, or even a rubberband. It also holds the kindle in place perfectly. I would say there is no chance of the kindle falling out of this case, shake it, turn it upside down, etc... its not coming out.
Another big advantage is the color selection. I chose this red because my mom loves red. It is a very nice red, and is marbled making it look even nicer. The inside is made of a suide type material, protecting the cover from scratches. I have no complaints with this product. I would buy this right alongside with the kindle b/c anyone who doesn't have a cover for this expensive piece of technology would be crazy. It is 100 times easier to hold in this case, and although this cover isn't going to protect it from everything, it will keep it scratch free and may even save it from a pretty significant fall. If you step on it, i'm pretty sure your kindle would be done though.
Enjoy the Kindle DX, being 23 and technologically savy, I'm still even surprised myself with this piece of technology. Its definitely the wave of the future.
