I purchased the Van Gogh Starry Night Protective Decal Skin Sticker for my Kindle 2 [it is only compatible with the Kindle 2, and not the Kindle 1]. It is described as a skin sticker, yet it offers reasonably good protection against stains [from holding the Kindle with one's hands], and from light wear. To further protect my Kindle 2, I also purchased the Amazon Kindle 2 leather cover which has offered much protection to it.The Van Gogh Kindle Skin is beautiful and provides a measure of sophistication and light protection to an already sleek product. It is reasonably easy to apply - initially I did have some bubbles at the edges, but the skin is stretchy and I kept stretching it out at the edges to get all the bubbles out. It is also easily removable, and does not leave behind any sticky residue. Does the color of the gelskin sticker distract me from my reading? Well, it takes initial getting used to, and after that, I had no problems adjusting to it when I was reading.
All in all, this is a beautiful and practical way to protect one's Kindle 2, but I would also advise getting a cover to keep the Kindle in, such as the Amazon Kindle 2 leather cover [which I have and am happy with].
